Illegal Immigration Continues to Surge as Lawmakers Consider Amnesty for 7 Million
Published on November 18th, 2021
The crisis at our southern border isn’t over. In fact, it’s worse than ever. While inflation and COVID continue to dominate headlines, illegal border crossings have set new records.
Worse yet, after being in office for almost a year, the Biden Administration has put forth no real plan or strategy to get the border crisis under control. In fact, they are actively pushing a plan that would make the crisis WORSE.
To put the border crisis in perspective, according to a recent New York Times report
A record 1.7 million migrants from around the world… were encountered trying to enter the United States illegally in the last 12 months, capping a year of chaos at the southern border, which has emerged as one of the most formidable challenges for the Biden administration.
It was the highest number of illegal crossings recorded since at least 1960, when the government first began tracking such entries.
Now lawmakers are considering a stealth amnesty plan to give legal status to seven million illegal immigrants.
The Democratic-controlled House is planning to vote on HR 5376, the Build Back Better Act infrastructure bill, this week. The legislation includes an amnesty provision for up to seven million illegal immigrants! Similar to the DACA program, the legislation would allow the Department of Homeland Security to give work permits and protection from deportation to millions of migrants who have ignored our immigration laws.
That’s why Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) is urging our supporters to tell their Representatives to oppose the Build Back Better Act.
If HR 5376 passes the House, it goes to the Senate where the Parliamentarian has rejected two previous attempts to attach an immigration amnesty to the budget bill. But we can’t take that chance. Stealth amnesty provisions like the one in HR 5376 must be defeated.
The Biden administration has created a horrendous border crisis with its refusal to enforce our nation’s immigration laws. This amnesty will only make the situation worse. We must fight to stop this proposal at every step.
