Obama: My Kids Are “Fine”; Good Luck to Yours

In a shockingly craven comment made during a recent $10,000 a plate Manhattan fund raiser, President Barack Obama told the crowd that he has no concerns about his daughters’ future. President Obama is confident that Malia and Sasha will prosper, thank you very much.

To quote President Obama directly, he said: “Our kids are going to be fine. They’re on a path that is going to be successful even if the country as a whole is not successful.”

Sure, the sky’s the limit for presidential daughters. Just a few days ago without a shred of professional experience in broadcast journalism or anything else, Chelsea Clinton debuted on NBC with her new regular (and boring) segment titled “Making a Difference.”

The Obama kids will do as well or better than Chelsea. They’re currently enrolled in the District of Columbia’s exclusive Sidwell Friends School at a cost of $31,000 annually per child. From there, Malia and Sasha will go to the private university of their choice—money no object. By the time Malia and Sasha are 18, their father will have racked up tens of millions in personal appearance fees and book deals. And mother Michelle will also have unlimited earning power from the same sources.

The Obama’s are fine, no question about it. But what will happen to the rest of America? What about the average, hard working middle class family that faces job insecurity every single day? In the same speech, Obama talked about giving every American “a shot” at prosperity.

But Obama’s policies have contradicted his promises. No president in history has governed more actively against American workers’ interests than Obama. Recently in Osawatomie, Kansas President Obama portrayed himself as the champion of the American middle class, the very group that is shrinking into oblivion. The blunt, inescapable truth is that home ownership, job security and retirement by 65 are increasingly elusive goals even for college graduates. As far as employers are concerned, in today’s nervous economy, hiring is too risky.

In light of what Wall Street analysts recognize as a shrinking labor market, it is incredible but true that the biggest push on Capitol Hill—right this minute—is a call for more foreign-born workers to come to America on non-immigrant H-1B visas. Think about it. In an economy with 22 million Americans unemployed or underemployed, Congress wants to eliminate the cap on H-1B visas from the current 65,000 allowed annually. We’re talking about thousands more engineers, teachers, nurses and financial analysts among many other professions that would come to America as workers and never go home.

Elites overwhelmingly support liberalized visa laws. President Obama, whose kids are “fine” don’t forget, loves the idea and endorsed it in his State of the Union address. Other influential backers include and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, former president Bill Clinton, the Chamber of Commerce, Council of Foreign Relations, Microsoft, eBay, Xerox and all of Silicon Valley to name only a few.

The long term threat to Americans isn’t an idle one. Earlier this month, the House passed the Fairness for High Skilled Immigrants Act that would end the per country caps on worker-based immigration visas. To give you an idea of how united Congress is about what it describes as the urgent need to import foreign workers, the House vote was a staggering 389-15.

The abandonment of Americans’ interests has been in progress for decades. But under President Obama’s invite the world philosophy, it’s accelerated at a very dire time.
