Sanctuary State Bill SB 54 Passes Senate – Prompts CAPS to Launch 'Blindfold' Call to Action Campaign to CA State Assembly Members

Santa Barbara, CA (May 24, 2017) – Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) launched a direct mail campaign this week imploring California State Assembly Members to open their eyes to the dangers of making California a Sanctuary State if they vote for SB 54.  Reviving their effective “Blindfold Campaign,” CAPS sent each of the 81 Assembly Members a blindfold to help them “sleep at night” should they continue to ignore the many injustices resulting from sanctuary policies.  At the forefront is the ability for undocumented career criminals to repeat heinous crimes – a very preventable scenario if Americans don’t indulge “outlaw” behavior from lawmakers.

“Our message is simple and on point,” say Jo Wideman, Executive Director of CAPS. “California should be a Sanctuary for Californians, not Criminals. We are asking our policy and decision makers to comply with our immigration laws, not ignore them.”

Recent polling, including a UC Berkeley study, shows that more than 70 percent of Americans oppose sanctuary for illegal alien criminals, opting in favor of the government taking action against Sanctuary Cities and enforcing compliance and cooperation between city and state law enforcement and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
