In Obama’s Final Days, Immigration Abuses Pile up, Americans Count Down to Jan. 20

President-elect Donald Trump, Sen. Jeff Sessions and Gen. John Kelly, the Attorney General and Homeland Security Secretary nominees, respectively, cannot start their new jobs fast enough. While I watched Tuesday’s confirmation hearings, two items came across my desk that show yet again how woefully eroded immigration enforcement has become during the Obama administration.

USCIS accepts fake passports, ICE releases aliens.

First, a report The Daily Caller published revealed that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services grants asylum to immigrants with fake passports. A USCIS employee was asked if there was ever a case when an asylum applicant presented fraudulent documents, but still qualified. The answer was: “Yes, because it’s understood that they cannot always obtain genuine documents. So it’s far from being unique.” Immigration Customs and Enforcement had previously revealed in an internal memo that the refugees routinely used false biographies and “produce and submit fictitious supporting documentation.” Access to fake documents is a breeze. The Wall Street Journal reported that ISIS has a thriving fake passport business. Summing up the scamming, ICE called the fraud perpetrators “bad actors.”

USCIS and ICE’s first-hand experiences contradict President Obama’s insistence that refugees are thoroughly vetted, and that the resettlement program doesn’t present risks to the American public.

As if the bogus passports aren’t enough to alarm concerned Americans about Obama’s accelerated refugee resettlement program, the second frightening item is equally unsettling. ICE admitted that not only are agents releasing Central American illegal immigrants at bus stops, they’re also transporting them to airports. According to KGNS (Laredo, Texas), ICE took at least 39 Central American women with notices to appear before a federal immigration judge to local airports and bus stations where they would begin their journeys to join family members. Once the aliens board their flights, the chance that they might appear for their court-ordered immigration hearings drops from slim to none.
