Wildfire Season in California is Getting Longer
Published on June 28th, 2023
Wildfire season has become a part of life for millions of Californians, now it seems the “season” is getting longer and longer.
ABC News 10 of northern California covered a recent study by Kaitlyn Trudeau and the team at Climate Central which looked at the increasing number of fire weather days in California over the past 50 years.
Unfortunately, an increase in wildfires in California should come as no surprise.
In the past few decades, California’s population has swelled to more than 40 million residents. This surging population growth, fueled largely by mass immigration, has created more demand for homes, schools, highways, and businesses; expanding the boundaries of residential areas into preserved forests and natural habitats, putting more Californians in the path of these devastating fires.
