May Breaks Another Record with 239K+ Illegal Border Crossings
Published on June 19th, 2022
May broke a new record after there were 239K+ illegal border crossings at the southwest border encountered by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the findings released yesterday show a 2% increase in illegal border crossings from April’s numbers.
May is also the fourth month in a row where illegal border crossings increased.
The numbers come from the latest report released by CBP about illegal immigration at the southwest border.
Keep in mind, this is just those who were apprehended and does not count those who illegally entered the country and were not caught.
What’s astonishing is that the run on the border is happening even after Title 42 was upheld, which we chronicled in this blog back at the end of May.
According to the report in AP, Title 42 accounted for a significant number of the encounters in May.
“More than four of 10 encounters in May were subject to the pandemic rule, nearly all single adults. Only about one of six who came in families with children under 18 were subject to Title 42. Unaccompanied children are exempt.
If this Trump era immigration policy implemented during the pandemic was lifted, just imagine how much worse it would be.
In another AP report on the same topic, the extreme summer heat in the border region is creating dangerous conditions for both those guarding and attempting to cross the border.
“More migrants mean more rescue attempts by U.S. Border Patrol agents. So far this fiscal year, the agency has conducted 10,588 rescue missions, on pace to surpass the record 12,833 launched last year. Last week, CBP announced it was launching a new “heat mitigation effort” in southern Arizona that includes arming 500 agents with “Heat Stress Kits” and heat-stress training for its agents.”
As we predicted, it’s going to be a long summer at the border as the border crisis only gets worse.
The border crisis won’t stop until the political class gets serious and takes direct action.
The question is, how long will they wait and how much more can America endure?
