It’s all about votes!  Too many of our politicians believe and hope that if they bring more aliens into the country, that will produce more votes from their relatives and eventually from the new aliens who become citizens.

As for the statement that "immigration brings low crime," this is total nonsense. According to the pro-immigration Migration Policy Insitute, the  incarceration rate of foreign-born is 3.5 times higher than that of legal US citizens.

The BEE should do some honest research about the huge numbers of illegals in US federal and CA state prisons who have committed serious crimes after crossing the border illegally — not to mention the harm the crimes have done to victims. And do some calculations on the damage to the CA state budget at an annual cost of thirty to forty thousand dollars per year per inmate!

The BEE cold also do some research on the number of "anchor babies" born at CA taxpayer expense in LA County hospitals. Let’s get some honest research done rather than publish misleading propaganda on the Letters page!

The number of jobs taken from Americans by illegals is huge but impossible to trace accurately. One major solution is to require E-verification for all employers.
