I saw it coming. The inflammatory headlines, marches and rallies in the wake of the "unjust" verdict in the Trayvon Martin case.

Speaking of injustice, I don't see Black activists protesting the irreparable damage to their own communities from illegal immigration. Not a murmur about President Barack Obama, who supports "comprehensive immigration reform" (translation: amnesty on the installment plan). Not a peep about the Congressional Black Caucus, which refuses to address the subject. Not a whimper about Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, who voted for the Senate immigration bill, now in the House.

Not a word about Black children adrift in classrooms, where teachers spend half of the day conversing in Spanish. Nothing about Black teenagers who cannot get entry-level jobs in the construction, garment, hotel and restaurant trades, whose ranks are filled with undocumented workers. And of course, nothing about our so-called Golden State, which spends at least $10 billion a year on education, housing and medical care for people who have no legal right to be here.

In the meantime, forlorn, homeless Blacks – whom I encounter every day in my neighborhood – wander the streets of Pasadena. Is there any "hope and change" for them?
