The California Department of Finance has released its annual report on the state’s population estimates. Population estimates are mandated by the state Constitution and are used by many agencies and institutions. Primary uses for the information are for budgeting, needs assessment, program planning and distribution of state funds. The analysis below compares data from July 1 of each year.
