CAPS eNews and Action

Meaningful immigration reduction is closer, more attainable, than it has been in recent memory. In this New Year full of opportunities, we remain committed to assuring calls for less legal immigration and zero tolerance for illegal immigration are prioritized, written into law, and honored!

Following the election and a year of frank national discussion on migration we have prioritized CAPS' immediate goals. Below are some specific, much-needed population stabilization policies that CAPS will fight for Congress and the President-elect to act on in 2017.

Keep immigration promises and fight for lasting change by:

  • Passing mandatory E-verify for all (public and private) employees, ending the job magnet that lures illegal immigrants
  • Reversing unconstitutional executive amnesties
  • Defunding sanctuary cities
  • Stopping visa abuse and limiting H1-B, H2-B worker permits, key to reducing the unsustainably high numbers currently allowed in legally
  • Developing a much-needed national population policy

Tell your Representative and two Senators to waste no time in supporting immigration reduction and enforcement!

News from the Legal Corner
With the decision still pending on whether our National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) lawsuit will go to trial, make sure to check out the brief summary of our case against the federal government written by CAPS Senior Writing Fellow Leon Kolankiewicz.

Sanctuary Cities and Blindfolds

  • We have sent 474 blindfolds to date, with messages telling politicians and police chiefs that their turning a blind eye to preventable crimes has tragic consequences for American families.

  • Meet the first sanctuary city to reacquaint itself with the law after election! This sheriff was a target of our blindfold campaign last year. CAPS sent him a clear message that his actions were infuriating millions of increasingly fed-up voters.

  • Don't miss CAPS National Media Director Joe Guzzardi's recent piece in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on the foolishness of sanctuary cities risking federal funding.

We continue to push back against the politicians, "objective" media, and special interests that predictably try to foil immigration enforcement. Of course, we need the CAPS Action Alert army to show politicians and law enforcement that we are not complacent, we want results!

CAPS is determined to ensure the voice that finally broke through in November translates into real policy changes.

Yours in the fight,

Jo Wideman
CAPS Executive Director
