Shocking White House Inaction on Deepening Border Crisis

Murrieta, Calif. may be the national flashpoint for the illegal immigrant border crisis. But given the disinterest President Obama has shown in proposing a reasonable solution, and the shortage of suitable housing in the Southwest, the aliens have been dispersed throughout the country. To date, relocation has been accomplished in states as far away as New York, Illinois and Massachusetts.

As the illegal immigrants arrive in droves, expect more Murrieta-style protests with irate citizens showing up to block busloads of alien detainees. Americans are wary of President Obama. His refusal to enforce immigration laws while unconstitutionally and unilaterally rewriting executive orders that have stayed deportation for thousands has led many to conclude that an immigration catastrophe like the Central American surge was inevitable.

Some believe that the White House is complicit in the surge. On January 29, the administration placed an ad on the Internet BizOpps website seeking contract workers for 65,000 transportation and other child-related service providers, almost the exact number of aliens who have arrived. The theory that Obama had advance knowledge is further supported by the obvious. No rational person believes that 50,000 plus aliens, many traveling with their mothers, journeyed thousands of miles from Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and through Mexico to the border without assistance from those countries and a helping hand from the U.S. government.

Specific details about the alien crisis are a deep secret. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson refused seven separate times to answer Meet the Press host David Gregory’s simple yes or no question about whether the aliens would ever be deported.

On July 10, the media will be allowed to enter Ft. Sill, Oklhoma as long as they agree not to bring recording devices, take pictures, interview the children, medical staff or other employees. Oklahoma U.S. Rep Jim Bridenstine, a federally elected official trying to visit a federal facility, was denied access to Ft. Sill earlier this month. Bridenstine compared the media restrictions to those used in the former Soviet Union.

The only thing concerned Americans can expect from the authoritarian White House is deceit, deception and arrogance. Although Obama has said multiple times that he will work to alter the 2008 law that protects Central American aliens but not Canadians or Mexicans, he’s done nothing. Senator Dianne Feinstein, a California Democrat who helped write the 2008 measure, said that the administration doesn’t need new power to act. The bill has emergency provisions that give Obama flexibility in a crisis to accelerate the judicial process to repatriate the aliens. To no one’s surprise, Obama hasn’t seized the opportunity Feinstein presented.

Instead, Obama has asked Congress to approve $3.7 billion to cope with the influx, money that does nothing to alleviate the emergency. Much of the money is allocated to the Department of Homeland Security to transport and feed aliens and to provide more immigration judges. Even some House Democrats like Henry Cuellar don’t trust Obama to secure the border.

Capitol Hill insiders fear that Obama is considering what’s known as administrative relief which would grant legal residency with work permits for some illegal aliens, a back door amnesty. If Obama takes that path, expect millions more illegal immigrants.

Instead of administrative relief, Obama should immediately send in the National Guard, turn back buses before they cross into U.S. territory, and then make the necessary changes in the law that would treat Central Americans, who must be turned over to Health and Human Services, the same as Mexicans and Canadians who can be returned immediately.

Every day of presidential inaction means another day closer to lost American sovereignty.
