Ads Warn Californians That Speaker Pelosi Will Push For Mass Increases In Immigration

SANTA BARBARA, CA– December 12, 2006 – Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) launched a radio campaign last week warning Californians that their Representative, future Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi will push for mass increases in immigration to the US. The radio campaign is running in Los Angeles and San Diego currently with plans to launch in other California markets in 2007.

Diana Hull, President of CAPS commented, “At a time when immigration is overwhelming California, it’s horribly ironic our state’s own representative is the one pushing for open-ended increases in immigration. Californians want less immigration not more and so do most Americans. Now that Representative Pelosi is becoming Speaker Pelosi, it’s time for her politics to grow up for the good of this state and the country.”

The ad campaign launches as Democrats prepare to take control of Congress and the nation has recently crossed the 300 million population mark. Immigration is the primary factor driving US and California population growth. Current legislative proposals, if approved, could catapult US population to 400-500 million by 2050. President Bush and Democrats have cited the immigration issue as one that offers opportunities to showcase bi-partisan cooperation.

President Bush has promoted huge increases in immigration via guest worker programs and amnesties. Representative Pelosi has consistently supported open border policies and unpopular increases in immigration. She scores an F on immigration stabilization watchdog websites. Representative Pelosi has supported social security benefits, in-state tuition, mass amnesties and drivers licenses for illegal aliens. She ‘s voted against border security, immigration related terrorism safety measures, workplace verification programs and a law enforcement officer’s right to ask legal status.
