If ever there was a piece of media that encapsulated the border crisis, this is it.
A viral video shared by Fox News reporter Bill Melugin via Twitter, shows approximately one thousand people streaming across the southern border with Mexico, and into El Paso, Texas. The video can be viewed by clicking here.
Melugin is an honest and dogged reporter who has extensively chronicled the border crisis from ground zero. We frequently cite his breaking news coverage of what’s been happening at the border, and trust this video is accurate.
We have chronicled the border crisis and its negative implications for our country ad nauseam on this blog. Unfortunately the situation keeps getting worse.
Additional reports are surfacing about the border crisis, and none of them paint an optimistic picture about this subsiding anytime soon.
An additional report from Fox News on the border surge revealed that the El Paso section of the border has seen thousands of migrant crossings in a day.
“In a 24-hour time span from Friday to Saturday, the El Paso sector had more than 2,600 migrant crossings. Prior to these border crossings, Mexican police escorted nearly 20 buses full of migrants into the Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez, which is located across from El Paso. The Police released the migrants to various non-governmental organizations.”
As a result, border facilities in the El Paso sector are overflowing with over 4,500 illegal aliens in custody according to a report in the Washington Examiner.
As Title 42 is set to expire later this month, many are predicting a tidal wave of new arrivals at the southern border. According to a report in NBC, the projected increase after Title 42 ends is going to stretch border patrol to the breaking point.
“The number of attempted crossings is projected to increase by as much as 2,500 a day when the Covid ban ends, DHS officials said, and it could reach 10,000.”
According to NBC, in lieu of this anticipated increase, the Biden administration is asking for $3 billion dollars to prepare for a potential surge, as numbers are already hitting 7,500-8,000 per day.
Some factions in Congress are skeptical about appropriating money to any Biden plan, as they’re unclear as to whether it will directly go toward securing the border.
This is turning into the perfect storm for a complete run on the border. We’re briskly moving past a border crisis, and instead moving closer to a total border catastrophe.
The only question is what will be the breaking point? Unfortunately for the American people, it’s going to be too little, too late.
