The Who’s Roger Daltrey Angry with British Government, Not Immigrants

Published on November 21st, 2013

I’m a fan of Bruce Springsteen, George Clooney and Katy Perry. But I won’t go to their concerts, see their movies or buy their music. They convert part of their income stream into donations that support politicians or organizations which promote population growth, sprawl and more immigration.

Roger Daltrey is known for his outspoken criticism of mass immigration Photo: Fred DuvalImagine my surprise when I read that The Who lead singer Roger Daltrey condemned Great Britain’s government for its immigration policy. Daltrey said that immigration has created a dismal work environment for “his mates” by flooding the labor market and undercutting wages.

Said Daltrey:

I will never, ever forgive the Labor Party for allowing this mass immigration with no demands put on what people should be paid when they come to this country. I will never forgive them for destroying the jobs of my mates, because they allowed their jobs to be undercut with stupid thinking on Europe, letting them all in, so they can live 10 to a room …

Daltrey, who once defended the Labor Party, continued to make another important point when he said that immigrants are often blamed for the British economy’s unemployment problem when the fault is with the government that enabled their arrival. Daltrey’s immigration criticism is equally true in the U.S. CAPS and other organizations that promote sensible immigration have repeatedly said that immigrants are not directly responsible for American labor overages but rather the federal government which actively encourages unsustainable immigration.

If amnesty supporters like McDonalds, IBM and the agriculture industry knew that they would have to prove they couldn’t hire Americans and would also have to pay competitive wages to immigrant workers, their enthusiasm for comprehensive immigration reform would be dramatically diminished.
